A new type of vegetable

Was eating at the local regent cafe and we were talking about the different types of food group. Somewhere in this conversation, CS buddy tells me a fascinating fact...

"Potato chips is a type of vegetable"...

Yes... it wasn't me who said this... I swear... lol

5am Work Night

Having been back from vacation, I had known that this was coming... Gotta catch up on some work.. yadiyadiya...

What I did not expect is that I would be pulling my first all nighter shortly after I got back. I was thinking max 2 or 3am... but turned out into a 5am work nite!.. woah!.. interesting indeed...

It was tiring, but the atmosphere was pretty awesome. 9 of us are there just going at it... Midnight snacks, type type type, if only there's the 1am brain juice, then it'd be exactly like college...

Back to Stown

Back to Stown... Time to tie up loose ends and start rolllling ahead! So many little things to take care of, but I guess things will not just magically take care of themselves...at least not here where I am on my own...

How was coming back to S.town?.. hrmmm... it actually felt a bit different this time than 6ish months ago. This time, I almost felt like I missed Toronto. The food, the friends, the family...

This time around, it seemed like I ran out of time. There were people I would have wanted to see, people that I would have wanted to talk to more, but there just did not seem like there was enough time... I wonder if this is what happens as we grow older...

This time around, I felt like a visitor... Back in the Waterloo days, returning to Toronto was just like any other day, but this time, coming back felt different, it felt like I was a guest and on a sight seeing tour or something...

It was also very interesting in a way, because while there were those who I would love to see more, there was one I was actually unsure if I had wanted to see... funny how things turned out though, cuz we really never ended up meeting properly... I guess it was both relieving and sad at the same time, not quite sure what to make of it. We did put on a brave front, but I guess in the end, though probably for different reasons, it just wasn't the right time to meet... maybe we are just too much the same...

So what I had already thought would happen 7 months ago came true. Talk about foresight!

Xmas in TO: Swiss Chalet :)

So as the tourist/visitor to the great white north, I got to pick the one of the restaurants that I have been dying to go to since I got back... SWISS CHALET!!! Still remember when I first said I wanted to go for Swiss Chalet, fellow swimming buddy thought I was joking... lol... What is so bad about Swiss Chalet anyway?.. Good, economical, tasty and filling food. Sure it might not be a seafood house and all, but it's unique to Canada!... haha

The Swiss Chalet 3 course combo is the best! Soup, Half Chicken and Apple Pie + the ever finger licking Swiss Chalet sauce... It's on the same level as wings and beer!

It's so cool that we are all seeming to get older and starting to think about the next few years down the road. I wonder how'd we be as we keep growing older and older...

Today also marks the first time I've seen since my physics/chem teammate since OAC! Haha, I still remember the one time I made a snack for the both of us and how she started going on about what parts of a simple innocent bak choi she wouldn't eat... haha... Surprisingly what things stick to memory!

But anyway, it was surprisingly how not much seemed to have changed... With such different paths that each of us have taken, it was funny to be sitting at a dessert place recollecting old times and hearing stories about new times, all the while cracking the same random jokes. As much as people will change with the times, I guess there will always be a part that doesn't...

Thinking back, I am really fortunate to have met such good friends over the years... If I could go back in time, the only thing I'd change is to be able to spend more time with each of them...

Xmas in TO: First K of the New Year

This was completely unexpected. Never really expected to be going to another K before I left Toronto. But an unexpected call to cancel, a slight change of plans, and by 11ish, there I was...

First K of new year... Did get to sing ALOT tonight because everyone was so busy drinking, but of course it's completely different than with the good ol' Kzone crew... haha. Needless to say the bill came out slightly expensive... but meh, that was covered in my gains from my family outing a couple days ago!...

Come to think of it, I think this is the second time I've ever partied with the CS folks... I wonder where the rest of them are at... hrmmm....

Xmas in TO: Family Outing to Casino Rama!

Having been in Horseshoe for a couple days, we had ended up at the casino for a complimentary dinner.

After a delightful buffet dinner inside the casino, we proceeded to spend a few hours wandering around the casino until it was time for the bus to pick us up. For the first hour or so, we (or I) went about and walked around to play at the various tables. With only about 45 min or so left, we met up again at the sic bo table.

At first, I played two numbers that bro told me would show up. Surprisingly, I won! So after that, we continued to play for the remaining 45 minutes. Ended up all 4 of us started playing and betting numbers :). The result was pretty good; as we all walked away up!

Our family outings thus far: movies, dinners, mj, snowshoes, and now gambling!... wuhahahahahaha! What can we conjure up next... hahaha
