Hawaii Day 7: End of the trip

Beached by the pool in the morning, used their courtesy room, then started heading back towards airport.  The courtesy room was a really nice touch... Turtle Bay Resort is definitely a nice spot.

Stopped along a few more shrimp trucks along the way, we arrived back to Chinatown area to try to get into the Pig and the Lady.  The food was pretty good there.
After a quick few dishes, headed towards Mitch's Sushi a second time for the second dinner.  Had the Tasmanian Abalone.  Have to say the lobster sashimi was mucho better.  But then, the abalone was huge!!! (Unfortunately I can't find the photo I took anymore :( ).

Hawaii Day 6: Scuba - Shark's Cove

They were pretty fun dives.  First dive we saw lots of fishes, second dive we went through some lava tubes.

In the first dive, we saw Peanut the sea turtle.  Lil's friend's favorite!  Also saw the cousin of our honeymoon fish, who turned out to be famous and is the state fish of Hawaii.

The dive master was great, got a little history lesson in the beginning, and he knew where the spots were.  The company was called Eco-Divers.  Prices are reasonable - if you go to the North Shore for diving, definitely check this place out.

Hawaii Day 5: Shrimp Truck Hunt

One of the signature things to eat were shrimp from shrimp trucks up in the North Shore.

Being at Turtle Bay, there were a couple just 15 minutes drive away - so we set out to eat a few.

By the end of the trip, we ended up trying Giovanni, Romy's, and Fumi's.

They were all pretty good.  Our favorite was Fumi's - maybe because of all the shrimp truck, this one tasted the most Asian.  Both the coconut shrimp and garlic shrimp were delicious!

Hawaii Day 4: Mitch's Sushi and En Route to Turtle Bay Resort

Picked up car from Alamo, turned out it was only a block away from Mitch's Sushi.
For lunch, had the long awaited spiny lobster sashimi - delicious!!!  (and also the grilled abalone is also very tasty).

Mitch's Sushi bill... not cheap.  But you get what you pay for.  $70 may seem pricey for the lobster sashimi, but it is decent sized, and it also comes with a miso soup that has the lobster's head.  The hamachi, amaebi, and toro were also really good.
After lunch, headed towards the north to Turtle Bay Resort.  On the way, stopped by to try the famous Matsumoto Shaved Ice.  Really long lines to wait for the shaved ice.  As it turns out, the hype was because they had alot of flavors.  In my opinion, I think there is better shaved ice in Waikiki.  In that same mall, they have some really tasty mochis - definitely worth eating/tasting.

Got to Turtle Bay Resort in time for happy hour.  Had some delicious tacos!  The location is just stunning.  Great view, very peaceful.  Thank you Citi Premier - if it wasn't for this credit card's signing bonus, we would not have gotten 2 nights for the price of 4!!!

Hawaii Day 2: Candoo's Big Day

Today was the main reason for coming to Hawaii ... Candoo's big day!

After yesterday's rehearsal, the girls were all ready to go!  For me, I helped too at this wedding... I was a dish washer for tea pouring! :)

For the cocktail hour, there was this sweet blue drink that I drank that didn't go down too well for me.  It was yummy though.  Looked like an AMF, but tasted sweet.

The food at the reception was good - surf and turf :).  The steak was cooked medium, which is the first time I can recall at a wedding that steak's were cooked decently, and for the surf part, it was lobster!  Mmmmm...

Beautiful weather, things went pretty smoothly.  Congrats!!!

Side note: Tried out my latest invention - seemed to work well, but needs some more modifications and adjustments before it is ready.

Hawaii Day 1: Anniversary in Hawaii

Today is our 4 year anniversary.  Started off with some Marukame Udon, then went and biked to Diamond Head, and hiked up to the top, and went back down.

After dinner, I got my anniversary gift - one of those pretty pearls you get to pick and open up yourself straight from an oyster! :).  Sooo happy.

Not super well yet, so went home and passed out.. with pearl in hand :)

Oh - and also ate a little snack before heading for dinner!

Hawaii Day 0: Enroute to Hawaii

Flying out of YVR - the tickets were half the price less than if we had flew out from the US of A.  So strange that it'd be cheaper to be flying into the US than within it.

First stop on landing.  Gyu-Kaku - 牛角. Best Japanese BBQ on Waikiki!

Today they had an abalone and beer special.. Mmmmm... Cowabunga!

Finally Alive Again!

Was a pretty crappy week this past week.  Barfing, fever, coughing, snotting, phelming... curling up into a ball every couple hours.

Spent $400 on hope to have a nurse practicioner come to give me a diagnosis.. of the common cold.  Though I am glad it was just that, since this was one strong cold.
