Equations that make no sense

In my head today - a bunch of equations... all of which makes no sense...

Nice day ... of procrastination

Have alot of things to do... but really, these past few days I don't feel like doing much.

Last night, had the classic make my own sushi/sashimi nite, some sake. Then boiled some TVBs. Headed to bed early.

Today, woke up, finished the TVB (I should mention that I finished 9 episodes in the last 24 hours..), and opened up the assignment, then decided to blog... ... .

Staring out at a clear blue sky - really don't feel like doing much. Maybe today is another write-off.

Note to self: I am screwed on Sunday... .. .

Whooooosh!

It's been a few years... but this is probably the first time in awhile where I couldn't stand a lecture. I was literally about to walk out on the lecture part way through.

By 4th year, I've gotten to the point where I would only attend lectures that I wanted to be in - and that has helped me free up alot of time, as well as be more focused when I am at the lectures.

Fast forward to now, where I feel obligated to attend every single lecture. And I have to say, it's tough. I think for the past few lectures, I am passed out from 7 to 7:30 just from work + lecture talk kablamo.

But today was different, the last half of the lecture was a slide deck click exercise. Though I guess it doesn't matter too much because with the lack of readings available, I have been learning from wikipedia, and each weekend has been a self exploration exercise, to supplement what was mentioned in the slides. I guess it's not much different than university in the past, and I am technically in school, but the difference is that I can't take 'snow days' and 'cold days' like I used to - since I feel guilty. But then again, I also feel guilty not giving the lecturer my full attention...

Ahh the dilemna...

Sushi Attempt #X - Uni Attempt - Success!

Since I got the ceramic knife, I have basically almost done sushi/sashimi nights on Fridays. Today though, I had a craving for sushi, but instead of going to a restaurant, I figure I go see what was on sale at Uwajimaya. And lo and behold, I find nice fresh Uni, just sitting there waiting for me to eat. So I grabbed a pack, and it's on!

What I noticed was that the packaging was exactly the same as those that are used in the restaurants (little trays with 5 white compartments)... I wonder if the sushi restaurants just buys these as well. Hrm... At restaurants, they usually put about 1 or 2 pieces on each, but as you can tell, I put at least 2 on each :).

Comparing the prices...

Restaurant price: $4 to $6 for having two 1 or 2 pieces Uni on top of each sushi

Store price: ~$16 for a pack of about 20 pieces of Uni... (which comes out to 10 pieces+ of sushi that can be made from this pack... 5 + sashimi if done the Mson way)....

I am definitely one who should learn how to cook! Having say 6 pieces of Uni sushi at a restaurant would easily be $25+ dollars (and if it's doubled up like mines... $40+). The savings is definitely worth it to eat at home.

Note: It actually tasted pretty similar I think to the restaurants (not to mention it sorta looked like it!) - also, the sake I got was really tasty too.

End of the TO Trip

After one last K outing the night before, today was the day I went back to the west coast. The airport lineups were really long - much longer than usual. The cool part was that during the security clearance, I was picked for some ion check thingy machine... which let me jump the line! I wonder if its because I look like I was gonna be a quick one to get through security (since I wasn't all over the place and had that bored look on my face.. hahaha) - but because of that, I easily got back 20 minutes of my life. Good stuff!

As always, I meet more new people in these 2 weeks than in 1 year in Seattle! I still find this very surprising year after year. What is so different about these two places?! Good at finding facts, but bad at using them... .. .

Armageddon!

Another year, another yearly tradition.

This year, I finally make Armageddon. Driving out at night to attend this yearly tradition, it was really nice to see everyone and also meet a ton of new people.

Also marks the first time I have broken the '3 drink limit' since 1/1/2010. Obliterated in less than two hours with all them boat races and dice games that were going on. It was just too nostalgic and fun... it's not a matter of losing control, but really just a conscious choice to. Yes, sounds irresponsible, but there's a reason to everything isn't there...

It's dangerous to revisit the past, because we could get stuck in it - but it's great to go back in time and relive the good parts of the past every so often. Not only do you get to relive these moments, but you can also be reminded of the lessons that you have learned. As we get older, more responsibilities and what not might prevent us from doing so. So until that happens or new events in our life comes about, treading into the past is alright right?

Touristy Day - Movie and Medieval Times

Today's plan - Dave n Busters, Movie, then medieval times! A day packed of events.

Waking up late, we couldn't do DnB - but walking around Yorkdale randomly was more fun than I'd imagined. Maybe it's the lights, or just the people around. Felt very festive!

Little fockers was ok funny. For some reason I didn't think it was as funny as the ones before (though it was still good). I would dub this one airplane worthy.. hahaha. The theater wasn't packed, but there were much more annoying people in there than I remembered theaters would have...
1) Annoying little kids at the back kicking the chair
These I remembered. It was ok I guess because they stopped once the movie began.
2) Little immature 14 year olds
Throughout the movie, these little 14 year olds or so next to us who were all excited whenever they saw a girl come up on screen or hear the word 'sex'.
3) a baby crying
I mean really?! A baby crying... just what would the baby get out of watching Little Fockers???
4) Phones and Kids
Some kid who obviously didn't see the beginning of the movie where they tell you to switch off the cell phone. That or the kid's too dumb to know how to use the silent feature on their phone. The best part I thought was that the kid even answered the phone (after it rang so the whole theater heard them)... twice.

Is this the new generation of kids these days? Ahh.. maybe I am getting too old.

On the other hand, saw a preview of the new Adam Sandler movie coming out in Feb... exccccited!

For Medieval Times, got tricked into looking at the 'Dungeon'... which turns out to be a 5 minute walk around some torture equipment. The show was alot faker than I remembered it, though the plot was alot better than I remembered. All-in-all worth the trip.

To end the night, went to check out ex-Seattle buddy's place downtown. Pretty nice!
